TV Drama of the Year

Some of us may be following closely the current blockbuster on TV8 - The Little Nyonya. This is one of the biggest production by MCTV this year and so much publicity and hype was given to it that it somehow, propelled the lead actress/actors to stardom ...viewership also hit new records... thatz why in life, we need this kinda of 'gui ren' help. Of course, it cuts both ways, cos if the output was no good, more harm could have been done. Check out the following post on the roadshow ...

Personally, I dun think this is a 'super brilliant' show cos there are flaws throughout - the much talked about rape scene of yuzhu was 'no big deal' (it could have been c'ensored') and the story line towards the end seem somewhat 'illogical' (to me), and the extras/cala-fe are like the 'same faces' (and I ask - can they act?)...sometimes, MCTV should look beyond ...and there are talents (ahem! *dreaming again*) out there... still kudos to most of the casts in there - good work!

Young and 'Rich'?

I am sure some of us would scramble for items during branded stores' sales. Just yesterday, I was at Vivo and most of the top notch brands - ZARA, RIVER ISLAND, GAP etc...are having sales... I popped in to kaypoh to see if I can find anything suitable and I was shocked. shocked. shocked. So many young guys/ladies (some b/lians and many students-alike) are there too...I wonder how come where they are so 'rich' and have the money to buy...(maybe, that's why they go for sale items?)... Back to my younger days, where got such luxury ...or maybe, I am obiang lor and do my shopping at CHINATOWN with the little money that parents give...haha...think parents nowadays are loading their children with $ and material items to compensate for their 'lack of time' with them.
I used to envy 'rich' people till my wise wife enlightens me... don't be deceived cos one may be driving a posh car and living in a big house but paying through his nose/health just to 'rear' it ... is that the life we want? slogging and slogging for material needs. Many will say yes. It is the vicious cycle - as one earns more, they spend more, and when they do so, they work harder to earn, and neglect their health and so on .... is it worth it?

Words

I guess I must be the only one who has no pics in my blog...haha...no wonder it aint populated with readers. Also, me still quite nerdy about uploading pics etc...think I must start to learn liao, else really kenna phased out by the IT wave. I feel that I can express better through words than verbally ...and such, many of you will know that I am actually not a good presenter/talker/communicator...and I get cold feet during management presentations or giving speeches. Also, I dun think I have good memory skills...and thus, maybe, that's why I can't be an actor...

A Quiet Xmas

Now, is Xmas day ...everyone in the house is asleep, except for me...the drizzle/rain today had somehow dampened the mood of merrymakers. Also, with the bleak economy outlook, guess everyone is taking things in stride and staying at home...I didn't hear any 'celebrations' except for some christmas carols from a neighbour downstairs. Soon, the school holidays will be over and work will gain momentum ...infact, had a fair bit of work that needs to be done this week... i think it is important for us to upkeep our passion for life and work so that we dun drag our feet to work everyday ...no good for our mental health too. looking at the brighter side of things may help, i guess.

Am I Missed?

I think the wise saying that 'retribution will go to one who is unkind' is quite true. After my nasty saga last Sat, the next day - Sun, I fell sick and caught a chill for 'no apparent reasons and with no warning signs' and sneezedmy nose off from Mon-Wed. Am recovering now from the 'viral flu', but the doctor said it will take a couple of days.
I had to postpone my Fri's lunch appointment with my ex-colleagues. Thinking back, I am not really sure if my leaving has been missed...afterall, I have changed a few jobs in my 14+ working years and my 'friendship' with my ex-ex-ex-colleagues have somehow distanced...that is very common, I guess. That's life.

Being Nasty

Most or rather all friends/colleagues I know, believe that I am a nice and soft/gentle guy and one who hardly or never loses temper. In the eyes of many, I am such a goody guy ... Today, I turned nasty cos we waited for almost an hour for a pizza at a new pastamania outlet in Sun Plaza. The order was made at 2.36pm for my girl, and we waited and checked with the counter staff more than 3 times...and the last straw came at around 3.10pm ... who said that they are preparing it and we need to wait another 10 minutes!... The wait was so long that my wife also got fed-up...I then asked to see the manager and as expected, there was none who dared to come forth! ...so, I spoke fiercely (and in a loud tone to make sure I am heard) to one 'team leader' (in black) that I have waited for almost an hour for my pizza! She said coming ..and I then I said, GO GET IT...and for more than 2 minutes, no pizza still... so I marched to the cashier and I said I wanted a REFUND and we are leaving ...we were then told that the pizza was ready/fresh from the oven ... so, we told them to get it packed ...we were fuming ...and then that 'team leader' came up and apologised and gave us a complimentary pizza coupon. **evil grin**.... For a while, I tot that I can perhaps be an actor liao...haha... but it was definitely bad service cos, at least, the service staff should have checked with us if our orders are here, cos we are still holding on to the order plate - 19 for so long!

Back Home ...from Cruise

Our family went on a short cruise from Wed midnite to Fri afternoon - it is less than 48 hours and we are back home 'so soon'. This is not the first time for me. Surprising, all went well ...probably the SS Virgo is so established and stable... no seasick whatsoever. Most of us will probably know that some (or most) adults go on cruise ... for the casino and food is free!...For me...I feel 'strange' if I don't pay a visit to the casino since I have spent over $1.6K for a Balcony cabin for 4. So, after the kids were asleep, I sneaked out to visit the casino (they called it Oasis) to look see....interesting ...can see loads of adults of all races and nationalities gambling away on table games and jackpot machines....I tot if I don't play, how to claim that I have been on a cruise ...haha...well, tried my luck (prepared to dump some $$) and expected to lose. Was trying to experience the mindset of gamblers there...they started playing, they may win the first few games...as they play again, they lose back...then they win a bit, and then lose more ...and then, guess what, they lose all their chips and then they 'change for more' and the loss continued... I remembered 2 aunties, one in red and one in white blouse... they were the last I played alongside at a poker table at abt 1.30am when I left ... and when I returned at 8.45am...they are there still playing...wonder if they had gone back to cabin to rest or they played thru the nite...sometimes, I wonder - if that is the life meant for these elderly who are loaded??
As for the kids, they weren't adventurous and thus, most of the time they prefer to be in the cabin watching TV ... sigh ..... and they claimed they 'like holiday and enjoy the cruise'. Foodwise, I am wiser now...so didn't gorge down loads and loads...so, didn't put on weight, I guess.

Bus Rides

Hmmm.... staying near the MRT station, driving the family car to work...I have not taken bus for quite a while. I used to enjoy bus rides, esp on the upper deck of the bus ...which allows me to see far (like HAI OU aka helicopter view in mgt terms) .
I recalled the days when I took buses to school, Uni, work...I usually used the time to reflect and think thru matters, and read (definitely, we can't do that when driving!).
Today, I chose to take a bus when I went to the Playground for the 8 Days Car Boot Flea Market event. It was certainly refreshing to take mind off the road to see far and think through life ...

Obiang-ly Outdated

Wow, another week has passed... how time flies. My old PC is giving me problems...actually, I think I am probably among the last few ones who are still using the lao pok PC when most people are already using laptops or PDA liao lor. Come to think of it, I have seen others using more 'high tech/in-fashion' cameras than the one my family own...sometimes, i wonder how they afford it... or was it just a show off or pay by instalment... not sure. If they genuinely can afford it, good. If not, they better reflect upon themselves ...what is a need vs what is a want?

>> I better upgrade myself, else will end up 'obiang-ly outdated' liao.
